How Much Do Wedding Photographers Cost?
As with anything, while you’re planning your wedding you would like to stay within a certain budget. But how much is too much and how much is too little on a wedding photographer? Here in the U.S. from what I’ve noticed, prices differ depending on the region of the country that you are in. For example an average wedding in New York City in 2012 cost $76,687 according to CNN ( CNN ). Where as a wedding in Los Angeles, in that same year cost an average of $35,308 ( The Knot ).
My advice is that your wedding photography should take very high priority. Why? Because long after your wedding has passed, the only tangible memory that you will have will be your wedding photos. In my opinion, it would be silly to spend a ton of money on different wedding details and then go ahead and hire someone who will not do any justice to the attention to detail that you put into your special day. You want a wedding photographer who will not only make your wedding look as good as it actually is, but perhaps even enhance the venue, details, and capture your emotions as best as possible.
Every photographer has their style and ways of fulfilling your unique wedding ideas. What your job as a future bride is, is to do your research and seek out a wedding photographer who will create beautiful wedding photos just as you see them in your mind. With as many choices as there are out there, it’s definitely not worth settling for a wedding photographer who does not share or can not create your unique wedding idea. Explain to him or her exactly what you’re looking for and what your budget really is. We all have wedding packages, and we build them based on what we think is necessary. However, if you don’t want a bridal portrait session, or don’t want as many hours of wedding coverage, for example, you shouldn’t have to pay for more than what you want. The more specific you can be about what you want, and what you’re willing to spend, the easier it will be to come to an agreement.
I hope this helps all of you future brides and grooms out there! Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email at Photography@ElmerEscobar.com
