VIDEO UPDATE ADDED: 1/7/2023
In this post, we wanted to share our experience with the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens with any photographers who might be interested. Although we are not particularly technical photographers, we believe that capturing special moments, whether at a wedding, event, or in everyday life, is more important than the number of aperture blades a lens has. Overall, our experience with the Tamron 35-150mm has been excellent. As soon as we heard about its release, we were eager to try it out because of its versatility in terms of focal range. However, we were also determined not to compromise on quality for the sake of convenience. After using the lens for about a month and on approximately two dozen shoots, including a full wedding, we can confidently say that it performs exceptionally well. We wanted to wait until we had used the lens for a full wedding before writing a thorough review, as we understand that many wedding photographers may be considering this lens for their work.
Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 on a wedding day
During a recent wedding, we were thoroughly impressed with the Tamron 35-150mm lens. From the beginning of the day, when we were taking getting-ready shots, until the ceremony at the church, we did not have to change lenses once. The lens was able to capture every detail, from the bride getting ready to her interacting with her friends, with exceptional clarity and quality. It was not until we arrived at the church that we swapped to a wider lens for a few specific shots. Overall, the Tamron 35-150mm proved to be an excellent choice for this wedding.

Shooting a ceremony with the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8
Using the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens to photograph a ceremony proved to be highly effective. In the past, we would typically bring both a 24-70mm and a 70-180 or 70-200mm lens to ensure that we could capture every important moment. However, with the Tamron, we were able to photograph the entire ceremony, including the walk down the aisle, the ring exchange, and the first kiss, using just one lens. This not only made our job easier, but it gave our clients more options in terms of the variety of shots we were able to provide. While it is certainly possible to switch between a 24-70mm and a 70-180 or 70-200mm lens to achieve a similar range, it is much more convenient to have one lens that can cover both focal lengths, especially during such crucial moments. Overall, the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens proved to be an excellent choice for this ceremony.

Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 Lens for Reception
The Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens is well-suited for capturing reception events, such as speeches and controlled dances. In these situations, the lens provides ample focal range and allows for a wide variety of shots. However, for more dynamic moments, such as energetic dancing, it may be useful to have a wider lens on hand. In our experience, we found that the 35-150mm was sufficient for the majority of the reception, but we switched to an ultra-wide lens (14-24mm) to get closer to the action during the dancing. Overall, the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens is a reliable choice for capturing reception events, with the caveat that a wider lens may be necessary for certain situations.

Tamron 35-150mm Wedding Review Overall
What can I really say about this lens. The Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens is a highly versatile and effective choice for wedding photography. It offers a wide range of focal lengths and a wide aperture, making it a great “do-it-all” lens. While it is a comprehensive package on its own, we recommend considering adding a super wide lens to your kit to pair with the 35-150mm at the wider end. Overall, the Tamron 35-150mm is an excellent choice for wedding photographers or anyone looking for a high-quality, versatile lens.
