Should we have a microwedding (or micro wedding)?
2020 has been a very trying year for everyone. Any industry you’re in, you’ve either been negatively affected or if you’re fortunate, positively affected. But there’s no way 2020 hasn’t affected you at all. When the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic first started, I think all of us in the wedding industry felt the same way. There was no way it would completely shut down everything and postpone every 2020 wedding to 2021. But lo and behold, here we are in Orange County, California in September and nothing has gone completely back to normal. Which has let a lot of our couple asking this simple thing: “Should we have a microwedding/micro wedding, and elopement, or a small wedding ceremony now?” The answer isn’t as simple as yes or no. I’ll tell you one thing, from our experience, most of our couples have chosen to push their wedding day back to 2021. However, some still chose to hold a very small, intimate event this year with the hopes of having a bigger one next year.
Proper Precautions for your Micro Wedding
Going by the guidelines of your state you have to keep in mind what is acceptable and what isn’t. Every small micro wedding we’ve shot has been a very low guest count, temperature checks have been taken, masks have been worn, and hand sanitizer has been plentiful. That’s not to say there’s absolutely no risk but taking every precaution is important to make sure everyone is safe, feels safe, and you’re adhering to proper guidelines
Postponing your wedding to 2021 or 2022
The other option of course is to simply wait until 2021 or 2022. There is no guarantee, however, with more and more businesses opening up, I for one remain hopeful and optimistic on what the future brings. Weddings in 2020 have been affected, no doubt and we’ll probably have more micro weddings in 2021 and possibly even some microweddings in 2022. To be honest, both from a personal and professional standpoint, I like the small guest count, the people who really made the cut if-you-will, so I think Microweddings will be something people may gravitate to after they see how positive it can be.
