Engagement Photography
In today’s blog we found ourselves in Oak Canyon Nature Center for Sarah and Paul’s engagement session. Oak Canyon Nature Center is located in Anaheim, surrounded by plenty of hills, canyons, and other beautiful locations. However, on this occasion our beautiful couple wanted very much to be in the green surrounding Oak Canyon Nature Center. Prior to the engagement portrait session we contacted the Nature Center to confirm whether we needed a permit or not to shoot there. One thing that I’m very adamant about is respecting the locations we have our engagement sessions in and this is part of it. Luckily the permit was very easy to obtain and with that in hand you’re confident that you will shoot for as long as you need, and you’re also contributing to our beautiful parks in Orange County. If you need to obtain a permit you can find it here: https://www.anaheim.net/2028/Photography-Filming-Permits
Engagement Session Posing
One thing that we tell our couples is that all you need to do is show up and we’ll help you with the rest. We understand that this is probably the first time you’ve been in front of the camera with your significant other and we take that into account. From hand placement, to making sure your engagement ring is centered, checking for hair ties, taking things out of your pockets, we pay attention to all these little details so you can focus on one another. Luckily with Sarah and Paul they were like pros from the get-go and their infectious laughter was apparent throughout the entire shoot. However, if you need a little brushing up on some engagement session posing you can check out our engagement photo session posing guide here: https://tnkphoto.com/couples-photography-posing-guide/
Time of Day for Engagement Photos
Earlier on this day we had quite a bit of cloud coverage. We always call or text our couples to confirm their session and on this particular photoshoot I also texted Paul and let him know that an overcast day is actually great for an engagement session! As you can see in the final images, the fact that we always choose to shoot near sunset allowed us to get beautiful afternoon light for their engagement photos and in the end when the clouds cleared out a bit we were able to get an epic photo of the two of them with the clouds around them. Remember that whether it’s cloudy or you get a super sunny day, with the right wedding photographer you’ll be able to get the best out of any scenario. Luckily on this engagement session we were able to get a beautiful red sky overlooking Oak Canyon Nature Center with the Anaheim hills behind them
